 Ninth National Games: Santoshi Shrestha bags gold in 10,000 meters

KATHMANDU: Santoshi Shrestha from Bagmati province team has won the gold medal in women’s 10,000 meters in the athletics events of the 9th National Games undergoing in Pokhara.

Shrestha, who is also a gold medalist of the 13th South Asian Games 2019, won Bagmati Province’s first gold in athletics in the race held on Saturday morning at Pokhara Stadium.

She completed the prescribed distance in 36 minutes 12.29 seconds. Similarly, Rajpura Pachai of Nepal Police Club won silver and Pushpa Bhandari of APF Club of Armed Police Force won bronze medal in the same event.

Rajpura completed it in 36 minutes and 29 seconds. Bronze winner Pushpa covered the prescribed distance in 37.04 seconds.

In the women’s 100m race of the first competition held in the morning, Nisha Chaudhary of Lumbini region set a new national record.
