People want Maoists to take up the reins of government: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has said that the people want to hand over the keys of the country to the hands of Maoists.

Speaking at a program held at the party office in Parisdanda on Thursday, he said that the Maoist would once again emerge as the country’s decisive force after the elections.

“Let me assure you that the Maoist Center will emerge as the largest communist party in the November 20 elections,” Prachanda told people at the program.

“The people still want to give the country’s key in the hands of the Maoists,” he reiterated.

Prachanda, who is also the former Prime Minister, also urged leaders and workers of the party to accelerate preparations for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and State Assembly.

He claimed that the leftist forces missed an opportunity to rise as the first political power in the nation through the May 13 local elections as some technical issues could not be patched up internally.

Prachanda also urged the people in the party line to take a lesson from the last elections and contribute for finding a more political space in the elections of the House of Representatives and the Province Assembly.

It may be noted that the voting for the twin election has been announced for November 20 in a single phase.
