Wildlife poacher arrested from Bardiya National Park periphery



KATHMANDU: A person has been arrested for poaching wild animals in Bardiya National Park.

The authorities are yet to make public the details of the arrested.

The monitoring cameras installed in various areas of the national park had time and again captured pictures of people illegally entering the park with weapons.

Subsequently, a joint team of Nepali Army and park staff had increased surveillance in the areas around the national park.

In course of investigation of the person captured on camera, the team was able to arrest the poacher from his residence on Sunday.

The national park security team recovered meat of hunted animals, meat drying nets, guns and bullets used in hunting, motorcycles and mobile phones, among others, from the poachers residence.

The arrested has been handed over to the Bardia National Park office for necessary action.
