Ruling coalition’s task force holding meeting today

To discuss allocation of electoral seats

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the seat allocation task force formed by the ruling five-party coalition is taking place today.

The meeting to be held on Monday afternoon will discuss the allocation of electoral seats among the five ruling partners for the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Province Assembly.

Coordinated by Nepali Congress (NC) leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, the task force comprises two members from each party of the ruling coalition.

The previous meeting of the task force discussed the modalities of allotment of seats.

Even though the parties are yet to formally claim the number of seats, NC has been demanding 100 seats out of 165 representative assembly constituencies.

However, other parties in the ruling alliance have been insisting on a “respectable” distribution of seats.

The ruling coalition has already instructed the task force to complete the assigned tasks at the earliest.
