Govt decides to extend the term of Truth and Reconciliation Commission officials



KATHMANDU: The Council of Ministers has decided to register the bill to amend the law on transitional justice in the parliament.

The bill was passed by the Council of Ministers after the ruling coalition agreed on the draft prepared by the Ministry of Law. It will be registered in Parliament this today.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers has extended the term of the officials of both commissions until the passage of this Act by removing obstacles.

“It has been decided to extend the deadline by a maximum of 6 months by removing obstacles,” a Minister said, adding,” As soon as the bill registered in the Parliament is passed, the current officials will automatically be relieved of their duties.”

The deadline for the officials of the Truth and Reconciliation and Investigation Commission of the Missing Persons is only until tomorrow.
