Coalition candidate Acharya leading mayoral race in Pokhara Metropolis



KATHMANDU: Counting of votes in Pokhara Metropolitan City is underway.

According to the latest results, Dhanraj Acharya of the CPN-Unified Socialist, who also represents ruling coalition, is ahead with 105 votes.

Acharya is at the forefront as 3,800 votes of Pokhara metropolis’ wards 1, 2, 12, 23 and 24 have been counted.

While Acharya has pocketed 1,585 votes, his nearest rival Krishna Thapa is chasing with 1,480 votes. RPP’s Shankar Kharal garnered 223 votes and independent Ganesh Poudel 118 votes.

For deputy mayor, Kopila Ranabhat of Nepali Congress got 1,676 votes while Manju Gurung of CPN-UML received 1,532 votes. Vote difference between them is 144.

A total of 143,226 votes were cast in Pokhara Metropolitan City.
