Balen leading votes in all five wards of KMC where counting is underway

KATHMANDU: Challenging the general assumption that political parties are stronger than individual candidates in Kathmandu, an independent candidate for the mayoral post, Balen Shah, has got more votes than other candidates in all five wards of the metropolis where the vote counting is underway.

Balen has taken the lead in all 1, 2, 3, 4 and 32 wards of Kathmandu. In all these five wards, the UML candidate had won the local election in 2017.

Independent candidate Balen seems to make a stronghold in 20 out of 32 wards of Kathmandu Metropolis.

As of now, Balen has got 2,601 votes while his nearest contender Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML has got 1,415 votes.

Likewise, Sirjana Singh of Nepali Congress has got 1,359 votes.
