CWC to decide on current coalition: NC General Secretary Sharma

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) would decide whether the current coalition would remain or not till upcoming local level election.

The local level election is scheduled for May 13 this year.

The NC’s CWC meeting likely to take place in the beginning of April would decide on the same.

General Secretary Sharma said so in a press conference organized by the Nepal Press Union at Khandbari in Sankhuwasabha district on Tuesday. According to him, the party would decide whether NC would vie alone in the election or forge electoral alliance based on the CWC’s recommendation.

Furthermore, he shared that NC was yet to decide whether or not to continue electoral alliance for federal level. Electoral alliance could be forged for local and district level as per the need, he clarified.

Sharma also urged the public to be assured of the timely election. He informed that the NC had launched ‘Ghar Ghar Jau, NC Jitau’ (Let’s go doorsteps to make NC win) campaign in view of the upcoming election.

The NC, through this campaign, aimed to take forward the party in a new manner and to establish deep relations with the public. He claimed that the country achieved over 70 percent vaccine coverage against COVID-19 during a short span of NC leadership in the country.

The general secretary of the ruling party urged all other political parties to contest in the election in a dignified manner.
