Nepal and UK agree to establish labor relations



KATHMANDU: Nepal and United Kingdom have agreed to establish labor relations between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, officials of the two countries Saturday agreed to send workers from Nepal to the UK and the latter would provide employment opportunities to Nepali migrants.

A spokesperson at the Ministry of Labor Danduraj Ghimire said the two countries agreed to provide employment to Nepali workers in the UK.

Officials of the UK’s Department of Health Services and National Health Services discussed the same with Nepali government officials Saturday.

Representatives of the two countries agreed to finalize a labor agreement by coming March. As per the agreement, both sides will be involved in drafting the Memorandum of Understanding.

Ghimire said both sides agreed to mobilize Nepali workforce in the UK’s health sector. However, the modalities for deployment have not been finalized.

The UK is positive about providing employment opportunities to health professionals, including nurses, from Nepal in the National Health Services.
