EC announcing results of PR candidates



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) is making final preparations to announce of the results of the elected candidates under the Proportional Representation (PR) category on Wednesday.

According to EC source, the Commission will announce the names of the PR members today afternoon.

The EC is making preparation to announce the election of members in 110 seats of the House of Representatives and 220 seats in the Provincial Assembly, and give certificates to those who have been elected.

Various political parties had earlier submitted the list of the PR members to the Election Commission.

The CPN-UML has won the highest number of seats under the PR category followed by Nepali Congress (NC) in the election held on November 20.

The UML garnered 34 seats, NC 32, Maoist Center 14, Rastriya Swatantra Party 13, Rastriya Prajatantra Party 7, Janata Samajwadi Party and Janamat Party 5 each under the PR system.

Similarly, the EC is considering to submit the report of the election results to President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday.

After receiving the final report, the President will then call for the formation of a new government.
