Former Speaker Onsari likely to contest from Kathmandu Constituency-2

KATHMANDU: Former Speaker and Maoist Center leader Onsari Gharti has initiated preparation to contest the November 20 election to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Kathmandu Constituency-2.

The Maoist Center’s Kathmandu Constituency-2 committee is preparing to recommend Gharti’s name as the candidate.

Gharti recently told party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda that she would contest the election under the first-past-the-post category.

“I am ready to lose, but this time I will contest from the first-past-the-post category,” a source quoted Gharti as saying.

Prachanda is also positive about Gharti’s interest, and is likely to discuss the issue with the coalition partners.

Gharti was elected from Rolpa-2 in the 2070 BS election.
