Govt to provide pension to farmers from upcoming fiscal: Agriculture Minister Yadav



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to implement pension scheme to farmers from upcoming fiscal year.

Addressing a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mahindra Raya Yadav said pension would be provided to farmers from the coming fiscal year.

Reponding to a query during ministry-related discussion on the Appropriation Bill, Minister Yadav said farmers would start receiving pension from next fiscal.

“However, they have to set aside some of their produce for the purpose and the government will contribute 10 percent to it,” he added.

He said that a procedure would be formulated to give pension to the farmers.

The budget for the next 2022/23 fiscal has incorporate the provision of pension to the farmers.
