UML emerges victorious in Lomanthang of Mustang



MUSTANG: CPN-UML candidates have emerged victorious to the key posts of Lomanthang Rural Municipality in Mustang.

UML candidate Tarsinarbu Gurung obtained 668 votes to secure his victory to the post of chair. Likewise, Chhyumi Bista of the same party became vice-chair securing 622 votes, informed Election Officer.

Gurung’s close contender Tasi Gurung of the Nepali Congress (NC) got 514 votes while Bista’s arch-rival Tshering Dhoka Gurung secured 529 votes in the vice-chair, informed Returning Officer Ghanashyam Subedi.

As shared, NC candidates won the posts of ward 1 and 5 chairpersons whereas UML won chairpersons in ward 2, 3 and 4 of Lomanthang.

A total of 1,231 people had cast their votes at Lomanthang on Friday.

The rural municipality has a total vote of 1,948.

Vote count results of all local levels of Mustang, excluding Thasang, have been made public.

UML has won in Lomanthang, Lodhekar Damodarjkunda and Baragung Mukti Chhetra while Nepali Congress has clinched the leadership position of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality.
