Do not give remarks that will create confusion about local election: EC

The Election Commission (EC) has urged political parties not to make statements that would create confusion about May 13-slated local level election.

Speaking at a regular press conference held by EC on Thursday, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel said the EC had drawn the attention of the leaders and activists of the political parties who at several occasions expressed doubts about the scheduled local elections.

Electoral alliance will not serve NC’s interest: Gen Secy Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that an electoral alliance is neither in the interest of NC nor other parties.

While dissatisfaction within Congress has increased over the issue of electoral alliance in the upcoming local elections, General Secretary Thapa said the alliance would not serve the interest of any political party in the long run.

NC endorses election manifesto

Nepali Congress (NC) has endorsed the election manifesto for the Local Level Election-2079 BS.

The manifesto will be made public on April 24 with additional suggestions.

A meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee held at the party office in Sanepal endorsed the manifesto on Thursday.

Ruling coalition gets disoriented when it hears the phrase ‘fresh mandate’: UML Chair Oli

CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that the ruling coalition loses its orientation whenever it hears the phrase ‘fresh mandate’.

Speaking at a greetings exchange program on the occasion of the New Year 2079 BS, Chairman Oli said there was no escape from the local elections regardless of the coalition’s wicked conspiracies.

Public transport fare increases in Bagmati Province

The public transportation fare has been increased in Bagmati Province, including Kathmandu Valley.

The Transport Ministry of Bagmati Province hiked the fare for taxi and public transportation effective from Thursday.

Public transportation fare was raised by Rs two for up to 10 kilometers and Rs two for more than 10 kilometers.

689 climbers of 84 teams so far acquire permits for climbing various peaks this spring season

A total of 84 mountaineering teams have obtained permits till April 13 to climb various mountains and peaks in Nepal in this spring season. These expedition teams have 689 members.

Through issue of mountain climbing permits, the government collected royalty of over Rs 373 million.

Leaders of Chand-led CPN call on Maoist Center Chair Prachanda

Two leaders of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplov’ have met with CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
