Electoral alliance will not serve NC’s interest: Gen Secy Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that an electoral alliance is neither in the interest of NC nor other parties.

While dissatisfaction within Congress has increased over the issue of electoral alliance in the upcoming local elections, General Secretary Thapa said the alliance would not serve the interest of any political party in the long run.

Thapa stated that the electoral alliance was not conducive to Nepal’s long-term political culture.

Thapa said, “This is my individual opinion that electoral alliance is not beneficial for Nepal’s political culture.”

He, however, said that he has readily accepted the decision of his party to go for an electoral alliance.
