Nepal reports single day spike of 5,087 new Covid cases in 24 hours

Kathmandu valley sees 2,607 cases in 24 hours



KATHMANDU: The country recorded a total of 5,087 new cases of coronavirus while 306 infected patients recovered in the past 24 hours.

Of the confirmed cases, 4,204 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 883 from the antigen method.

A total of 20,560 samples were tested in the past 24 hours in which 13,474 were RT-PCR tests and 7,086 Antigen tests.

Likewise, there are 1,913 cases in Kathmandu, 317 in Bhaktapur and 377 in Lalitpur, taking the total cases in the valley to 2,607 in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there were three coronavirus-related deaths reported in the past 24 hours. With this, the COVID-19 death toll in the country is 11,613 till date.

There are 1,8235 active cases of coronavirus in Nepal as of Friday against 14,340 on Thursday.
