Writ petition filed against candidacy cancellation at apex court



KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist)’s candidate for Rupandehi-2, Raju Gurung has registered a writ petition at the Supreme Court (SC) against scrapping of his candidacy.

It may be noted that the Office of the Election Officer had cancelled the candidacy of Gurung reasoning that he was blacklisted on banking offense case.

Gurung filed the writ petition today against the decision of the EC. In the writ, Gurung demanded interim order to not implement the decision of the Election Officer to scrap his candidacy.

Spokesperson of the SC, Bimal Poudel confirmed that the writ petition was registered at the apex court.

Hearing has been fixed for coming Friday.
