Election Commission prohibits pre-poll survey

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Election Commission (EC) has prohibited pre-poll surveys of political parties and candidates for the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections to be held on November 20.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the EC said that no survey can be conducted or publish the results of such exit polls from the date of registration of nomination papers until the end of the voting.

Similarly, the EC has also banned holding opinions, spreading propaganda, producing any electronic material and publishing on social media, or sharing materials published by others in order to adversely affect or disrupt the election.

The EC has warned of action if anyone does such an act in defiance of the prohibition.
