Impeachment Recommendation Committee to call all the names mentioned in suspended CJ Rana’s statement



KATHMANDU: The Impeachment Recommendation Committee formed by the House of Representatives has decided to call the former chief justice, judges, advocates and politicians mentioned by suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana during his statement before the Committee.

The Committee’s meeting held in Singha Durbar on Tuesday afternoon decided to call all people the suspended Chief Justice mentioned in the statement.

“The committee decided to summon the people who Rana mentioned during the statement about matters including contracts, corruption, irregularity, bribery, extortion, influence on the administration of justice,” Meen Bishwakarma, one of the members of the recommendation committee said, adding, “We will work out the detailed plans for summoning those people.”

Suspended Chief Justice Rana mentioned the names of CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, UML Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel,  CPN-Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary Mahalakshmi Upadhyay Dina, Supreme Court Judge Harikrishna Karki, Former Nepal Bar Association President Chandeshwar Shrestha, Senior Advocate Shambhu Thapa, Advocate Om Prakash Aryal during the statement with the parliamentary committee.

Lawmakers from Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Center filed an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana in the House of Representatives on February 13, 2022.
