NC disgruntled faction led by Koirala faction demands 40 percent seats in Nov 20 elections

KATHMANDU: Disgruntled faction of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) led by leader Dr. Shekhar Koiraka has demanded 40 percent seats in the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly.

The Koirala faction demanded 40 percent seats from NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba at a time when the latter is planning to forge an electoral alliance of more than five political parties.

NC President and Prime Minister Deuba is endeavoring to make NC the largest party in the parliament after the November 20 elections.

A meeting of the Koirala-led faction held on Saturday warned of “struggle” within the party if the party leadership did not give at least 40 percent of the seats to the faction in the upcoming elections.
