UML leader Bhusal defends Governor Adhikari, says incumbent governor is not UML cadre

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader and Chief of Finance and Planning Department Ghanshyam Bhusal has defended Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari and said that Adhikari is not a member of the party’s finance department.

Stating that there is no legal provision for holding public office in party committees and departments, Bhusal said that the officials themselves have stated that they are not involved in any party politics.

“Many people have expressed interest and curiosity about the involvement of Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari in the Finance and Planning Department of the CPN-UML, of which I am the chief,” Bhusal said on social media. “I would like to inform that there is no legal provision for holding such public office bearers in our committees and departments.”

However, he did not disclose the identity of M Adhikari in the list under his committee.

Saying that M Adhikari is Maha Prasad Adhikari, voices have been raised in the parliament demanding action against him.
