Padlock at TU office bearers’ offices removed after 140 days



KATHMANDU: The offices of office bearers of the Tribhuvan University (TU) have resumed after padlocks on them were removed after 140 days.

Nepal Students Union (NSU), a student wing of the governing Nepali Congress (NC), and part-time teachers padlocked the offices of TU Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Rector since January 21, putting forth various demands.

Following request from various quarters, protesters removed the padlock on June 12.

Earlier, lawmakers attending a session of the House of Representatives and the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) urged removal of the padlocks.

TU Registrar Prof Dr Peshal Dahal confirmed the resumption of the offices on a regular basis from Monday. “The padlocks were removed Sunday. We will resume work regularly from today.”
