Voting suspended at three polling centers in Dhankuta

DHANKUTA: Voting at three polling centers in Dhankuta has been suspended owing to scuffles.

Deputy Inspector of Police (DSP) Chiranjivi Dahal, who is also the spokesperson of the district police office, said voting could not be resumed despite efforts to calm down enraged cadres of the political parties.

Voting has been stalled at the booths in Thakurdevi Secondary School and ward-6 office building of Sahidbhoomi Rural Municipality.

Representatives of CPN-UML and the left-democratic alliance had clashed with each other over voting issues.

Dhankuta Chief Election Officer Phadindra Prasad Parajuli said that the voting for today was suspended as no solution to the dispute was found despite efforts through dialogue among the disputing parties.
