Locals run away with ballot boxes in Rautahat

KATHMANDU:  The locals have looted ballot boxes from two polling stations in Rautahat.

The incident took place at polling center at wards 1 and 2 at Yamunamai Rural Municipality in course of local level elections.

Repeated clashes had occurred among the cadres of Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML in Yanunamai.

A riot had broken out at the polling station and an angry mob seized the polling station, tore up the remaining ballot papers and ran away with the ballot boxes.

Police said that the ballot boxes were recovered while the locals were poured water onto them.

Election Officer Hari Prasad Sharma said polling has been canceled in both the places.
