Cabinet meeting taking place today

Likely to appoint APF IGP

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Council of Ministers is taking place today.

The meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 10 am, a Baluwatar source has said.

The meeting, which is taking place just around the corner of the local level elections, is expected to take some crucial decisions including the appointment of the Inspector General of the Police (IGP) of the Armed Police Force (APF), according to a minister.

In the run-up to the election, the paramilitary security force, the APF, is without leadership.

According to sources, the cabinet is making preparations to appoint AIGP Pushpa Ram KC to the post of IGP.

KC had joined the Nepal Police as a Police Inspector in 2049 BS and entered the APF following his promotion as DSP in 2058 BS.

Due to the government’s delay, the Armed Police Force has been headless since Monday midnight.
