Murder accused Nepali national held in Saudi Arabia after 17 years



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a murder accused Nepali national after 17 years from Saudi Arabia.

Govinda Magar, 40, of Belka Municipality-6, Udaypur, accused of killing Man Bahadur Tamang on November 28, 2004, was brought to Nepal on Wednesday after apprehending him in Saudi Arabia. A team from the INTERPOL Section of the Nepal Police Headquarters brought Magar to Nepal.

The Udayapur District Court had issued an arrest warrant against Magar for murdering Man Bahadur Tamang.

A red notice for search and arrest was issued in Magar’s name on February 8, 2021, from the INTERPOL General Secretariat after Area Police Office, Rampur Thokshila, requested for the same through the INTERPOL Section of Nepal Police Headquarters.

According to the INTERPOL Section of Nepal Police, Magar has been handed over to Area Police Office, Rampur Thoksila, Udayapur, for necessary legal action.
