Three ordinances tabled at Karnali province assembly

KARNALI: Three ordinances were tabled and two bills were withdrawn in the first meeting of the ninth convention of the Karnali province assembly.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Planning Binda Man Bista on Wednesday had presented the Karnali Province Public Service Commission (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2078 BS, ordinance related to terms and conditions along with perks and benefits of Province Public Service Commission office-bearers, 2078 BS, and Karnali Province Sports Development (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2078 BS.

The Minister presented the ordinances issued by Province Chief for regular operation of province government when there was no proceedings of province assembly.

Likewise, Minister Bista had also presented a proposal before the province assembly to withdraw the Karnali Province Appropriation Bill, 2078 BS and Karnali Province Economic Bill, 2078 BS from the assembly.

On the occasion, CPN-UML Karnali Province Assembly party leader Yamlal Kandel said the province assembly members should be informed of the number of government projects and programmes across the province. “Karnali has witnessed a nurtured culture of how to eat up revenues rather than utilizing them for province development. The government has been distributing programmes in a disproportionate manner”.

Also speaking on the occasion, chief whip of CPN (Maoist) Thammar Bista asked Chief Minister Jeewan Bahadur Shahi to give complete shape to the government seriously. He also drew the attention of maintaining budget transparency.

Likewise, province assembly member of CPN (Unified Socialist) Devi Oli underlined the need to make serious review for the development of the province and implementation of the constitution.

Province Assembly member of the Nepali Congress Yagya Bahadur Budha Chhetri said the development of the province was possible only through consensus, collaboration and understanding.

Next meeting of the province assembly is set to take place at 3.00 pm on January 16.
