Physically challenged youth completes Mechi-Mahakali wheelchair tour

ILAM: A physically-challenged youth has successfully completed the Mechi to Mahakali tour on wheelchair. He is 25-year-old Sandesh Ramtel of Ilam Municipality, Ilam district in Province no 1.

Ramtel started his tour from the Mechi River bridge in eastern border on September 19, coinciding with the Constitution Day. He reached Gaddachauki of Kanchanpur district on the Mahakali, the western border point on Tuesday. Ramtel completed his Mechi-Mahakali tour with the theme of ‘peace, love and goodwill’ in 23 days.

He said that he set out on the wheelchair tour to promote religious tourism as well.

“I undertook this tour for promoting religious tourism. I have completed the tour although it was difficult,” Ramtel said of his tour.

He plans to tour 170 countries on wheelchair carrying soil from Lumbini, Pashupatinath and Larumba, the holy places of the Buddhist, Hindus and Kirantis, respectively, in near future.

Ramtel is a paraplegic. He is in this condition following a motorcycle accident.
