Nepal Police proposes 120 thousand temporary police for elections



KATHMANDU: With the announcement of elections to the federal and provincial parliaments for November 20, the government bodies have geared up the preparation in this regard.

In this connection, the Nepal Police has come up with the proposal of 120 thousand temporary police persons for security assistance.

It has intensified plans to ensure the utmost security arrangement for the election.

The Home Ministry has proposed the arrangement of temporary police persons.

The number of police persons demanded is more by 20,000 as compared to the one demanded during the local level election.

However, Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dhiraj Pratap Singh said, the number of temporary police persons demanded security assistance could be ascertained again.

“Nepal Police is now concentrated on the election. A necessary proposal like that of security assistants, cost needed for them, mobilization of police persons and other necessary things have been submitted to the Home Ministry,” he added.
