UML lawmaker seeks govt’s answer on disappearance of 2.4 million COVID19 vaccines

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Khagraj Adhikari has sought answers from the government in relation to the disappearance of 2.4 million COVID-19 vaccines.

Adhikari, who is also the former health minister, has demanded the government to provide factual information to the parliament about the loss of 2.4 million vaccines.

Taking part in the discussion on various topics under the Appropriation Bill 2079 in the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Sunday, he expressed dissatisfaction over not getting answer despite the fact that the opposition had even drawn the attention of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba towards the matter.

Stating that while he was the health minister, he had made arrangements to provide 139 medicines for diseases like HIV/AIDS to cancer for free, lawmaker Adhikari warned the government not to create any more confusion about it.

He expressed outrage that the government has reduced the budget for the health sector for upcoming year by more than 22 percent compared to last year.
