Lawmakers propose budget cuts during deliberations on Appropriation Bill



KATHMANDU: As deliberations were underway on expenditure budget allotted for various Ministries and government bodies in Sunday’s session of the House of Representatives, lawmakers have proposed downsizing the budget.

Deliberations were underway on expenditure budget allotted for the Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Health and Population, the Office of the National Planning Commission, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Offices of the President and the Vice-President.

Durga Poudel proposed to reduce budget for the Ministry of Urban Development by Rs 100. She also demanded the budget cuts for the Ministry of Health and Population and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister.

Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel sought to reduce the budget allocated under the heading of Urban Ministry Development to Rs one while Sher Bahadur Tamang wanted the budget of Ministry of Health and Population to be at Rs one.

Bhim Bahadur Rawal proposed to reduce the budget of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister to Rs one. The deliberations continue.
