KATHMANDU: Muslim Commission President Samim Mian Ansari has said that accusation of distributing money against him is an attempt to assassinate his character and the accusation was false.
Ansari was accused of distributing money to influence voters in Janakpur. Refuting the accusation, he said UML leaders were trying to assassinate his character.
The Muslim Commission president arrived Kathmandu on a 12:30 flight from Janakpur after he was accused of distributing money in Janakpur.
Holding a press conference in his office in Kathmandu today, Ansari said, “UML leaders Raghubir Mahaseth and Julie Mahato were bent to assassinate my character. They are the ones who have circulated such false accusation.”
He complained that the leaders of the same party which recommended him as president of a constitutional body were working to assassinate his character.
Ansari claimed that he went to Janakpur on Wednesday for special work and returned to Kathmandu today as per the schedule. “I reached Janakpur at 11 pm on Tuesday. I attended a greetings exchange program at Luri Barkati Madrasa on Wednesday morning. After the program ended, I was scheduled to return at 12:30 today, Thursday.”
“However, at 11 am this morning, some 15/20 people entered the hotel where I was staying and tried to attack me. Chanting slogans, they falsely accused me of distributing money. This allegation is very wrong,” Ansasri said at the press conference.
“I am not a leader or activist of any party. As the head of the Muslim Commission, I have been fulfilling my responsibility for the upliftment and development of the entire Muslim community and the empowerment of the Muslim community.”
He clarified that he did not go to Janakpur for lobbying on behalf of any party. “However, some people are trying to assassinate my character for some time. I have heard that they want to ruin the career of Samim Ansari.”
He added that he was saddened to see UML Janakpur Municipal Committee member Surendra Bhandari, at the directive of Mahaseth and Mahato, leading a team to attack him at the hotel. “Bhandari has been now arrested.”
Ansari demanded investigation and action against those involved in carrying out activities meant to assassinate his character.
