NEPSE declines on Thursday after rising for two consecutive days

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index saw decline on Thursday following two consecutive days rise.

The index shedding 18.64 points closed at 2350.42 points today, Thursday.

Today was the last day of trading prior to the election and the market will now open only on Tuesday next week. The stock market will not open on Sunday as the government’s two days a week holiday policy will come into effect on Sunday, May 15, and since Monday is Buddha Jayanti public holiday.

All sub-indices closed red today except ‘Manufacturing and Production’ and ‘Others’.

A total of 5,227,359 units of shares of 228 companies were traded via 40,023 transactions resulting in a turnover of Rs 2.32 billion.

The share price of Jalpa Samudayak Microfinance rose the most by 10 percent on Thursday. The price of Tehrathum Power Company also rose by 6.20 percent.

The share price of Suryodaya Womi Microfinance recorded a negative circuit. The company’s share price has dropped to Rs 1,236.10. Similarly, the price of Prime Life Insurance Company fell by 7.63 percent. Shivam Cement had the highest turnover on Thursday.
