Lightning kills 2, injures 5 in separate places



KATHMANDU: Two people have died and five others sustained injuries in lightning strikes in separate places in the country in the last 24 hours.

Two women — one in Raksirang rural municipality-1, Makwanpur, and the other in Gauradaha municipality-5, Jhapa — have died due to pre-monsoon lightning strikes.

Similarly, two people were injured in Raksirang, two in Myagde rural municipality-1 and one sustained injuries in Shuklagandaki municipality-5, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

As many as 56 people have died and 175 others sustained injuries in lightning strikes in the last one year.
