EC sets ceiling of expenditures for candidates during polls

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has fixed a ceiling of amount that candidates can spend during the upcoming local level elections.

The Commission has set a limit of expenditures for the candidates and apprised them of the latest status of preparations of the elections.

The local level election is scheduled to be held on May 13.

According to the Commission, mayor and deputy mayor of the Metropolitan City are allowed to spend up to Rs 750,000.

Similarly, the Commission has set a limit of Rs 550,000 for mayor and deputy mayor of Sub Metropolitan City and Rs 450,000 for the mayor and deputy mayor of municipality.

Likewise, the chief and deputy chief of the rural municipality can spend maximum of Rs 350,000.

The Commission has fixed a ceiling of Rs 300,000 for ward chairman and member of the Metropolitan City and Rs 250,000 for ward chairman and member of Sub Metropolitan City.
