Media should ensure credibility in election news: CEC Thapaliya
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has urged media to ensure credibility in the election news.
Inaugurating an event on ‘election news and media orientation’ organized here today by the Gorkhapatra Corporation, Thapaliya said, “It is the duty of journalists to disseminate fact-based news during the elections. They are also responsible for spreading the message that elections are meant to develop a future course of the State for the next five years by keeping the national unity intact.”
The Chief Election Commissioner urged media persons to reach the polling stations, centers and among the people for the coverage of election news.
Though everyone forgot BP, Lingden follows his path: Actress Koirala
Renowned actress Manisha Koirala has said that although everyone has forgotten Bishweshwar Prasad (BP) Koirala, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Chairman Rajendra Lingden was following the path guided by the leader.
Addressing the election meeting of RPP in Pokhara on Friday, she said that she stood with Lingden because he was on the path guided by BP.
“The path shown by BP, national reconciliation, monarchy and multi-party democratic system, this is what BP showed would strengthen the country and Lingden has truly embraced those values. That’s why I’m standing here,” said Manisha, who is BP’s granddaughter.
I will dedicate rest of the time for economic revolution: Prachanda
The CPN-Maoist Center Chairman and candidate for the election to House of Representatives member from Gorkha constituency No 2 Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has vowed to dedicate rest of his life for an economic revolution.
Addressing the election assembly at Jaubari of Siranchowk Rural Municipality in Gorkha district today, Chairman Dahal underscored the need of the economic revolution to institutionalize political change.
Towards this, he committed to spearheading such revolution from Gorkha.
Alliance to save constitution, inclusive democracy: PM Deuba
Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly would determine the path Nepal would take.
Addressing an election assembly organized by the democratic-left alliance at constituency no 10 of Kathmandu on Friday, NC President Deuba viewed it is the present need to protect the constitution achieved with much struggle.
“Country has got constitution with much rigor. It is inclusive and has ensured 33 percent participation of women in state mechanism. Indigenous nationalities have also been guaranteed adequate rights,” PM Deuba reminded.
UML Chair Oli lambasts rebellion candidates
Chairperson of the CPN UML, KP Sharma Oli, has said people would not vote for the rebellion candidates, but for the candidates of the alliance of UML and its ally.
Addressing a joint election assembly of the UML-JSP in Dharan on Friday, the UML Chairperson reiterated that people would not favor the candidates who flouted the party rule and fielded rebellion candidacy.
He lambasted the rebellion candidates that they grossly ignored works for people but yearned for post and power.
Seven stranded workers rescued from Kuwait
Seven Nepali migrant labourers who were stranded in Kuwait have been rescued and brought back home to Nepal.
They had gone to the Gulf country on work visa. It is found that the Global Times Kuwait, the company employing them, made them work for 14 hours daily and not given their two months’ salary.
The stranded workers were brought to Nepal last night at the initiation of Dharma Overseas Pvt Ltd and media person Jeevan Sharma.
Nepal clinches SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship title
Nepal has clinched the title of SAFF Women’s U-15 Championship undergoing in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Nepal held Bangladesh to a 1-1 draw in the decisive match in Dhaka. Bangladesh scored the equalizer on the 54th minute of the game.
In the competition held on the basis of double round robin, Nepal scored 10 points from four matches. Nepal remained the only undefeated team in the tournament. Bangladesh was limited to seven points.
In the tournament consisting of three teams, Bhutan remained at the bottom with no points. Earlier, Nepal won 1-0 in the first match against Bangladesh
This is the second time in women’s football history that Nepal has won the title in South Asian football.
KMC bans lighting fires in open spaces
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has banned lighting fires in open spaces and burning the debris saying that it is harmful to public health and the environment.
Those who are found guilty will be punished as per the ‘KMC Environment and Natural Resources Protection Act-2021’, a statement issued by KMC said.
Leopard attack injures three in Syangja
Three people were injured when a cheetah attacked them at Kafleti of Waling municipality-14 in Syangja on Friday morning.
The injured are Kisan Neupane of Waling-12 and Tulasa Parajuli and Laxmi Parajuli of Waling-14.
According to Waling-14 ward chair Bodhraj Kunwar, the animal attacked Neupane when he was busy in farm work before entering the house of Chandi Prasad Parajuli. By that time it had already attacked Tulasa and Laxmi and left them injured.
Gold price rises by Rs1300 today
The price of gold has increased by Rs 1300 in the domestic market on Thursday.
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the hallmark gold is being traded at Rs 96,700 per tola and the price of worked gold is Rs 96,200 per tola.
Gold was traded at Rs 95,400 on Thursday.
Nepal sees 10 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 10 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Friday.
All the confirmed cases, nine were detected through the RT-PCR method and one through Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1339 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
