Nepal clinches SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship title

Wins Bangladesh in score despite the tie



KATHMANDU: Nepal has clinched the title of SAFF Women’s U-15 Championship undergoing in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Nepal held Bangladesh to a 1-1 draw in the decisive match in Dhaka. Bangladesh scored the equalizer on the 54th minute of the game.

In the competition held on the basis of double round robin, Nepal scored 10 points from four matches. Nepal remained the only undefeated team in the tournament. Bangladesh was limited to seven points.

In the tournament consisting of three teams, Bhutan remained at the bottom with no points. Earlier, Nepal won 1-0 in the first match against Bangladesh

This is the second time in women’s football history that Nepal has won the title. This is the first time that Nepal has won the title in South Asian football.

Earlier, Nepal won the U-14 Regional Championship held in Sri Lanka in 2014. In the second match against Bangladesh, Nepal took the lead in the 14th minute with Sushila KC’s goal.
