Over 17,000 security personnel deployed for polls in Sudurpaschim Province



SUDURPASCHIM: Over 17,000 security personnel have been mobilized for the elections to the House of Representatives and the Province Assembly in the Sudurpaschim Province, according to the Sudurpaschim Province police office.

The voting for twin elections is taking place simultaneously on coming November 20.

Out of the total 17,859 deployed, 11,559 are ‘Myadi’ (temporary) police, and the remaining from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, it has been said.

Similarly, 177 mobile teams of security personnel would be deployed during the polls, said Senior Superintendent of Police Bhola Bahadur Rawal, information officer for the police office.

The security teams would be mobilised in the polling places and stations only two or three days ago, he added.

There are a total of 48 constituencies in the province (16 under the HoR and 32 under the PA), and 2,146 polling stations.

Out of the polling stations, 710 are categorised as most sensitive, 778 sensitive and 658 general, according to the province police.

Likewise, out of a total of 1,161 polling places, 352 are classified as most sensitive, and 404 sensitive.
