Suspended CJ Rana ties ex-PM Oli and ex-FinMin Poudel to controversial approval of SC building contract

KATHMANDU: Suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, who is giving statements to the parliamentary Impeachment Recommendation Committee, has named then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel as abettors in approval of the contract for the building of the Supreme Court (SC).

Nepali Congress (NC) whip Meen Biswakarma said that Rana insulted the former Chief Justice, judges and senior lawyers in the course of his statement hearing. “Using abusive words, Rana has dragged people into the SC building contract controversy,” he said.

According to Biswakarma, a question was asked about the controversial approval of the building contract of the Supreme Court. “Rana accepted that undue influence.”

Although the registrar would have handled the contract approval, according to Rana, he took the matter into his own hands in the capacity of head of office.

“The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel have also helped me. The then finance minister is right here, I was successful because of his support.”
