NC should not compromise less than 100 seats: Shekhar Koirala

BIRATNAGAR: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shekhar Koirala has said that the party should field candidates in 100 electoral constituencies to get a majority in the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives.

Saying that Nepali Congress will not garner a majority if it fielded candidates in less than 100 constituencies, Koirala said, “NC should not compromise less than 100 seats.”

“I have serious doubts that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders are presenting themselves strongly in the meetings,” Koirala said.

Koirala said there will be a rebellion within the party if NC President Deuba agreed on 80 seats with the ruling coalition.

“Let me reiterate that Nepali Congress should field candidates in 100 constituencies. By giving 70 or 80 candidates, NC cannot get a majority,” he said.

Koirala said that Nepali Congress should garner a majority to run a stable government.
