Alternative route used in Raswua after landslide hits Pasang Lhamu Highway

RASUWA: An alternative route has been managed after the Rasuwa section along the Pasang Lhamu Highway got disrupted by a landslide.

The landslide occurred at the Majhgaun-Banuwa Ghumti on Tuesday night disrupted the highway and now a route from Aambhanjyang Simle to Dharapani area via Taruke has been used as the alternative arrangement.

According to Rasuwa’s chief district officer Nawaraj Jaisi, the technical team assessed that it might take time to restore the damaged route and that’s why a rural road towards Taruke was chosen for vehicular movement.

However, the alternative route is narrow and congested. So, only light vehicles like jeep, car and motorcycles are preferred for the riding.

Pilgrims to the Gosaikunda were facilitated to reach the destination via the alternative route.

Gosaikunda, country’s one of the famous religious sites, draws a large number of devotees to take a holy dip in the freshwater lake on the day of Janai Purnina, which is being celebrated tomorrow, Friday.

The disruption at the Banuwa section has also hampered the import from China. Cargo vehicles en route to Nepal from China have been halted midway.

District Administration Office, Rasuwa, is learnt to have already urged the Road Division Office to take measures for restoring the route for the convenience of trans-border trade.

The landslide hit areas lacks a space for a division and it is estimated to take at least one month to build a gabion wall there.
