One held with 8 kg marijuana



BUTWAL: Rupandehi police has arrested a youth with about 8 kilograms of marijuana at 4:30 pm on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off that illegal cannabis is being traded in Bhairahawa, a team of police rounded up Abhishek Thapa Magar, 23, of Siddharthnagar municipality-6, from his house.

While searching the house and body, the police team found two blue plastic bags and a red plastic bag of cannabis in the north room of the two-room house where Thapa was staying.

Similarly, 3 kg and 150 grams of marijuana, a small digital machine (scales) and Nepali currencies worth Rs 1,720 were found in a yellow plastic bag in the same room, said District Police Office, Rupendehi spokesperson Navratna Poudel.

According to police, 800 grams of marijuana was found in a blue plastic bag hidden in a steel drawer in another room.
