Finance Ministry nods to hiring 100,000 temporary police personnel for local election



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has given the approval to recruit 100,000 temporary police personnel for the local level elections.

The date of the local level election has been fixed for May 13.

“The finance ministry has already approved the recruitment of 100,000 temporary police personnel for the local elections,” police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishnu Kumar KC.

He said vacancy for temporary police was being prepared to be made public within a week. “We are preparing for this internally and will release the information within a week,” he said.

The Nepal Police had sought to recruit 118,000 thousand temporary police for the local level election. However, the Finance Ministry gave approval for recruiting only one lakh temporary police personnel.
