NEPSE declines by 75 points in a week

KATHMANDU: The stock market gauge Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a decrease by 75 points in the six transactions days of the week.

The stock market which started with a fall on Sunday showed uptrend on Monday but could not retain the positive attempt much longer and became subject to the downtrend for the rest of the days this week.

The NEPSE index has declined by 75.18 points this week.

Last Thursday, the last trading day of the previous week, the NEPSE index had increased by 106.82 points and reached 2,876.74 points. Skipping Sunday, the index continued the trend only on Monday this week.

In the five-day trading of this week, the stock market index dropped by 75.18 points and reached 2,801.56 points.

The Nepse index, which had increased by 106.82 points in the previous week, has declined by 75.18 points this year. The Nepse index had declined on Sunday, the first trading day of the year. On Sunday, the NEPSE index fell by 40.57 points to 2,836.17 points. Similarly, the Sensitive Index fell by 7.73 points to 531.92 points, the Float Index by 2.8 points and the Sensitive Index by 2.48 points. A total of 16.51 million shares of 228 companies worth Rs 5.83 billion were traded on Sunday. However, the NEPSE index, which had declined by 40 points on Sunday, had risen by 15.69 points on Monday and reached 2,851.86 points. A total of 95,12,580 shares of 224 companies worth Rs 5.22 billion were traded on Monday.

The stock market index, which closed 15.69 points higher on Monday, had dropped 16.30 points to 2,835.58 points on Tuesday. Despite the decline in the NEPSE index on Tuesday, the transaction amount had increased. A total of 12.53 million shares of 230 companies worth Rs 6.28 billion were traded.

Similarly, the NEPSE index, which had declined by 16.30 points on Tuesday, had dropped by 22.11 points on Wednesday to 2,813.47 points. A total of 6.52 million shares of 223 companies worth Rs 3.47 billion were traded on Wednesday. On Thursday, the last trading day of the week, the the stock market index fell by 11.96 points to 2,801.56 points. Similarly, the Sensitive Index declined by 1.7 points, the Float Index by 1.16 points and the Sensitive Float Index by 1.07 points. A total of 6.95 million shares of 227 companies worth Rs 3.82 billion were traded on Thursday.

Despite the decline in the NEPSE index, compared to Wednesday, the transaction amount increased modestly on Thursday. Shares worth Rs 3.47 billion were bought and sold on Wednesday.

Investors’ assets have also declined along with the NEPSE index in the last one week. Investors’ assets, which increased by Rs 136.74 billion last week, declined by Rs 105.73 billion this week. The total market capitalization of investors in the stock market last Thursday was Rs 4,065.37 billion. This week, the assets decreased by Rs. 105.73 billion to Rs. 39.59 billion.
