UML Chair Oli asks ruling coalition to make its stance clear on MCC

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has asked the ruling coalition to make its position clear on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

In response to a telephone call from CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, UML Chairman Oli said emphasized the need on the need for the ruling partners to be clear on the issue.

According to Bishnu Rijal, deputy chief of the UML’s publicity department, Dahal had called Chairman Oli last evening urging him to decide on MCC.

“You had earlier vowed to ratify MCC after ousting me from power. You have also written a letter to the US cowing to endorse MCC from the Parliament in four to five months after my ouster. Since you are in the power now, and since you have 165 lawmakers in the House of Representatives, you need to decide on the issue,” Oli told Prachanda.

The UML still maintains that the Nepali Congress, the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, the Maoist Center, the Unified Socialist and the Rastriya Janamorcha in the ruling coalition, must first form an opinion on MCC.
