KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah has laid a wreath at the statue of late King and builder of modern Nepal Prithvi Narayan Shah at a program organized at Singh Durbar, Kathmandu on Tuesday.

When former King Shah reached at Singha Durbar roundabout to lay a wreath at the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah, loud slogans of protest against the republic were chanted in front of Singha Durbar, the federal administrative center of the country.

Former King Gyanendra paid tribute to Prithvi Narayan Shah and laid a wreath at the statue in front of Singha Durbar on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of the designer of modern Nepal.

Cashing the public sentiment against the alarming surge in the corruption cases both at policy level and work place level, the royalist and supporter of Hindu kingdom have been raising their voice against federalism, republic and secularism.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari arrived at the Singha Durbar Gate on Tuesday morning to lay a wreath at the 300th Earth Day celebrations. Leaders of various political parties also laid wreaths at the statue.
