NC office bearers’ meeting underway in Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) office bearers’ meeting is underway at Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar to finalize the names of the proportional representation (PR) candidates to be sent to the House of Representatives.

Krishna Prasad Paudel, Chief Secretary of the party office, said that the meeting is discussing the recently-concluded general election, Proportional Representation (PR) candidates, among other issues.

Earlier, NC work executive committee’s meeting had taken place at the party central office Sanepa, Lalitpur to discuss the list of the PR candidates.

NC had fielded candidates in 91 constituencies under the first-past-the-post category.

The party has become the largest party by winning 57 seats.

Since only one female candidate has been elected under the first-past-the-post system, most of the policymakers to be sent under the proportional representation category will be female members.

According to NC sources, the candidates who had been in the closed PR list submitted to the Election Commission earlier are not allowed to join today’s meeting.
