Coalition for safeguarding constitution: Prachanda

GORKHA: CPN Maoist Centre Chairman, who is also the ruling alliance’s candidate for House of Representatives (HoR) from Gorkha Constituency No. 2, said that the left-democratic alliance was formed to safeguard the constitution which was promulgated after a seven-decade-long struggle of the Nepali people.

Addressing an election assembly at Bhachchek village of Ajirkot in Gorkha on Thursday, the Maoist Centre Chairman said the pro-constitution forces united for a cause after the constitution was pushed into peril by the anti-constitution forces.

This alliance was formed to safeguard the achievements that the country made, he said, adding that “regressive, status-quoist forces are attempting to rise their heads at times”.

Prachanda stated that he will not let anyone do away with the achievements established for women, indigenous communities and underprivileged classes. He also argued that he did not come to Gorkha to seek votes but to expedite the development pace here.

Also addressing the event, Nepali Congress candidate for Gorkha Constituency No. 2 (B) Surendra Raj Pandey asked the voters to help take the nation towards prosperity by casting vote to the left-democratic alliance.
