Cardio vascular hybrid theatre set up in TU Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular Center

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center has set up a hybrid operating theater for cardiovascular surgery.

Similarly, it has launched an advanced CT scan service. “The theater was set up one month ago. Equipment for the 512-slice CT scanner have been set up. The service will begin soon,” said the Center’s executive director Prof Dr Uttam Krishna Shrestha.

The hybrid theatre is an operating theatre with built‐in radiological screening capabilities wherein cardio surgery and cath lab procedures take place simultaneously.

“One hundred twenty five patients got service from the theatre. It charged between INR 1 to 1.5 million for the service in India. We provide the service at the same price here in Nepal. We are continuously working to provide quality service at a fair price within the country,” said Shrestha.

For operating the advanced CT scanner, a technical workforce would be provided with special training, he said.
