BARDIYA: More than 800 families have been displaced due to the flooding caused by the swollen Karnali River following incessant rain.

As many as 800 households in Rajapur Municipality and Geruwa Rural Municipality have been inundated and the families have been shifted to safer ground nearby, said Dipesh Chaudhary, the mayor of Rajapur Municipality.

Chief District Officer Bandhu Prasad Banstola said the people living in settlements close to the river bank have been urged not to go to the river for fishing or to collect drifting logs and wood as the water level in the river and rivulets has not receded yet.
